In 2013, members of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul in the Metro West District Council noted an increase in homeless families in their suburban communities. From this need grew our mission: to help the hidden homeless in our suburbs. Suburban homelessness is hidden because we do not see these families on the streets or in shelters. They live in crowded motel rooms or vans or as an unwelcome guest of friends or relatives. The Journey to Housing Program has been designed to help these families regain their dignity and hope. We housed our first family in February of 2014.
